Mongoose Mayhem

We all remember young Jimmy's love of boots and all things cowboy, right?

Well, six years later he's got a new pair.

The riding lessons are going well so the instructor recommended getting a pair for him. He was borrowing my hiking boots this past month but they don't have a true heel, which is safer in the stirrup.

He commented how he really liked them so I decided to grab the camera to commemorate the return.

This past week the guys in Jimmy's patrol met several times. One day was video fun and lunch. Another day was picking up trash and then hitting the water effects at Finch Park. Next trip, we headed out on a 5mi hike through Erwin Park. This was to help Jimmy finish up his requirements for Second Class Scout. They also learned about using a compass on trail, with the help of Will's older brother, Peter. All of them rotated in line to have a turn at leading and using the compass. It was hot but breezy, so actually quite enjoyable.
Their last day was spent creating a new information board for the entire Troop. I guess the other one was breaking and was quite cumbersome. They all agreed on the design and then got to work, with some power tool help from us moms. They met over here at our garage. Six hours later, they finished the board but decided to meet another time to stain it. Thank goodness. We were all worn out by that point :)

Not sure what Mike was up to with the trashcan and hose. I just took the picture and then they both ran off and hid LOL

One of our friends lives outside McKinney and has a bit of land. She's an animal lover too so we had fun when we dropped by for a bit, after Jimmy's nearby riding lesson.

Mike LOVES goats so he was excited and jumped right in.

The potbelly pigs were SO cute but muddy so we (me in particular) ended up quite a mess before we escaped their curiosity.

Jimmy thought the goats were cool until one decided to pee - note the grossed out expression on Jimmy ;)

The puppies and kittens were Jimmy's favorite part.
