Mongoose Mayhem

Interesting stop. We pulled over because the boys were driving each other crazy...not to mention us as well. After we unloaded the car, I realized the dudes in the nearby car were having an argument. Really pissed off. After our last ten minutes in the car, I briefly wondered if they were brothers Haha. Then I wondered just how mad they might get and if having witnesses around might become an issue. ( Note: you don't get cell signals deep in redwood territory). I quietly told Jimmy my observation and said to do whatever I might say if something gets weird. Luckily, they ended up leaving and we enjoyed the pretty view and meandered over to the small river.

On our long, chilly, uphill hike back to our room, I suggested another stop at Ghiradelli. This time we got hot cocoa and mochas to warm us up.

The island (and mainland) is covered in an assortment of amazing flora. Beautiful colors and dense, lush vegetation cover every crevice.
Surprisingly, there was also a huge eucalyptus tree as well as a tea tree. I now wonder if they were used them medicinally.

They managed to make a false front using cardboard and paint while they slowly carved away the surrounding concrete with modified spoons.

There was a small maintenance tunnel in between the row of cells and they planned the scale up it using the pipes.
When they were ready to escape they put dummy heads, made of soap and art paint, into the beds.

The three men were never found after making it off Alcatraz.

They actually had music boxes that headphones could be connected into for enjoyment.

Mike decided to complete a scavenger hunt to earn a badge.

Some prisoners coveted upper rooms with views of the bay and San Fran. On a clear quiet night you could sometimes hear laughter (girl's in particular) and partying from the wharf.

Others didn't want to be reminded of what they were missing as they served their time.
